In 1971,
President Nixon proclaimed one, single federal public holiday to honor
all past presidents of this country. This patriotic celebration
commonly known as "Presidents' Day" falls in the frolicsome month of
February, too, and it's great to know that four of our most prolific
presidents have been immortalized in stone on Mt. Rushmore. Each
of these four, great men has helped make America the truly wonderful country that it is today!

Four Faces
Words and music by J.W. Beattie
From "The American Singer - Book 6" (1947)
Over the
Black Hills of South Dakota, on a mountain's granite face, there are
carved the heads of four, great men that time cannot erase. From
the valleys, plains and highways, you can see these heads afar, while
the country round seems lighted up as by some beacon star!
And these four men of honored
story in our memories belong like the rock from which their faces
shine! Unshaken, Firm and Strong!
