Haunted House Story And Song
Have you
ever been in a haunted house? Well, I have, and I'd like to share with
you what I saw. It was an old, decrepit house sitting all by itself at
the very end of a dark street. The house had not been painted for many
years now and looked very weathered. Dark and gray, like a cold and
creepy mausoleum. Ewww! It gave me the creeps!
The shutters
dangled loosely, creaking with the wind, and there seemed what I
thought to be dark shadows flying around from within the windows. I
trembled at the sight of it!
Suddenly, I
could sense the presence of someone, or something, next to me, telling
my mind, coaxing me to go into the house. I slowly and cautiously
walked up the broken path leading to the front door. The yard was
overgrown with tall weeds that rustled with the breeze. To the right, I
noticed two, old, moss-covered tombstones. Aaaaahh!!! Something wild
darted out from behind one of them! (Music Begins)

THE CAT
Music By Isham Jones, Lyrics By Gus Kahn (1927)
The hour is midnight and the moon is in the sky, flying high,
what's that cry? About the time the witch is riding to the sky, through
the gloom, on a broom. It comes through the night, while I shake with
fright!
It's the
CAT! Nothing but the cat. Sneaky, little cat. Squeaky, little cat.
Always found prowling all around. Wonder where he's bound. Scat, you
little cat! Not a little mild cat, that the folks can take home with
them. Wild cat, got that hot cat rhythm! It's the cat. Nothing but the
cat. Nothing else but that, tune they call "The Cat".
Everywhere
you go, you can hear it. Everywhere the dancers all fear it, for they
know whenever they're near it, they'll dance till they drop. When those
hot cat bands get to playing, everybody starts in a swaying. You can
hear the couples all saying, "I love it. Don't stop"! It's the cat.
Nothing but the cat. Nothing else but that, tune they call, "The Cat"!
